Earthquake in Turkey on March 8, 2010

On March 8, 2010, an earthquake of magnitude 6.0 struck the eastern part of Turkey near the city of Elazig. Many aftershocks followed. Numerous residential buildings in the adjacent villages were distroyed, according to press reports 51 people were killed and hundreds became homeless. This mapping activity was performed in the context of the GMES Emergency Response Project SAFER with funding from the European Community's Seventh Framework Programme.
